Seed Bomber - Growing Peace
We've made a lot of Seed Bombers. But this one took six years.
We started talking with Maidens about a collaboration jacket maybe six or seven years ago now. They wanted a souvenir jacket. We immediately said yes. And then, true to form, we took half a decade to actually make it happen. It was originally meant to commemorate one of their anniversaries. It's now arriving just in time for them opening a new store. That's Story mfg timing for you.
The delay wasn't laziness (well, not entirely). Souvenir jackets carry a lot of history. They originated in post-war Japan, where Japanese artisans made embroidered keepsakes for American troops. There's real lineage there, and we wanted to get it right rather than just get it done.
Maidens gave us a laundry list of craft requirements. Honestly, a good word for it. And we just said yes to all of it. So here's what's actually in this jacket: it's reversible, with a handwoven interior. There's natural dyeing throughout. Appliqué, hand-attached. Crochet, hand-attached. Hand-knit rib. And the wonky stitching that takes an embarrassing amount of time to make look perfectly wonky. We're never making this again. We do a lot of craft-heavy things, but this has everything on it at once.

Processes & Dyes
Please note that much of our stuff is naturally dyed, and even where it isn’t, we largely use organic dyes where the colour isn’t ‘flat’. There’s almost always variation in tone and colour, both on a single garment and across different ones. Never are two of our things exactly the same (except in quality, where there should be no variation).
We do our best to make the images representative of the colour (after all, colour is our most cherished quality), but the light where we are and the light where you are may be a little different. Some images are taken under studio light, while others may be natural, shot at our dye house or here in our studio, to give the most rounded view.
Hand wash your item with pH neutral soap and cool (or warm to the touch) water and then air dry. Find our detailed care guide here.
Our naturally dyed clothing is coloured with organic materials that behave differently to synthetic dyes. These items may have some smell from the dye process and you may experience some crocking and rub-off when new. Please make sure you are comfortable with this when ordering.
